The Power of Post Processing

Following up from yesterday, let’s go over some of the features of post processing and how it can dramatically improve your game.

We will look at a few settings in bloom and color grading that will give your game a whole new look.

Bloom:

Add bloom by clicking “Add Effect” and then selecting “Bloom”. Then click “All” in the upper left corner of bloom to turn all the setting on. We are going to change the intensity which effects the intensity of the light sources.

Play around with the intensity to find the correct setting for your game. I set mine to about 15 and changed the color to red to give this effect:

Color Grading:

Add color grading the same way you added bloom and enable all. I use tonemapping ACES since that’s what is used in films. Temperature changes the color look to be warmer colors or colder colors.

That is the power of post processing: a few simple changes the whole look and feel of the game. And those changes are easy to do even for non-artists. So get in there and play around with post processing to discover everything that it can do and to find what settings you like!
